Research and Statistics

Electrical Muscle Stimulation, or EMS, is the stimulation of muscle contraction using electric impulses. By activating muscle contraction via electrical stimuli, EMS trains your muscles in a way that traditional physical workouts cannot. In EMS training, electrical pulses activate the muscles externally. For the targeted muscle, it makes no difference whether the electric stimuli originates from the brain or electrodes. Research studies from the Bayreuth University in Germany report the following results after a six-week training program with EMS:

A crucial benefit of the EMS-assisted training appeared to be the indirect strengthening of pelvic floor muscles achieved through stimulating the adductors and the nerves supplying the pelvic floor muscles, which also run past areas with the electrodes targeting the abdomen and buttocks.
